31  San Antonio Scorpions FC / General / How far will the Scorpions go this season? on: March 05, 2012, 12:30:42 AM
So how far do we go in our inaugural season.  Then please discuss your vote.  In my opinion the team looks quite good on paper.  Coach Hankinson has put together a good mix of experienced and young talent that could go well into the playoffs.  A solid backline of Janicki, Smith and Cochrane along with midfielder Harmse and Saavedra with either Hill or Sattler in goal will make it difficult for teams to score on us.  Campos will certainly score goals but others such as Denissen and Tiago will have to pick up some of those responsibilities for us to be an offensive powerhouse.

32  San Antonio Scorpions FC / News and Analysis / SA Scorpions vs Galveston Pirates Scrimmage & Tailgate on: March 05, 2012, 12:18:31 AM
The San Antonio Scorpions will take on the Galveston Pirates of the NPSL this Friday, March 9, 2012 in a scrimmage at STAR Soccer Complex.  Game time is 8 pm.  Join the Crocketteers for a free tailgate party in the STAR parking lot.

Come tailgate with us starting at 5:30 pm as we will be grilling up some free hamburgers and hot dogs.  We will also be having free BEER, water, Red Bull, and sodas to wash the food down.

We will be bringing a few drums and we will also work on some of our chants.

You don't need to print a ticket but we would like you to register so that we know we have enough food and drink for the event.

Great stuff there.  Would love to get some of those old programs scanned into the Crocketteers Archives.

36  Crocketteers General / General Discussion / Re: TV Coverage for NASL and Scorpions? on: February 05, 2012, 08:43:35 PM
NASL games are all streamed on the internet. So therefore you can see all of the Scorpions games from the comfort of your home.  But nothing will beat being in the stadium standing with us.  10 drums, 6 flags and chanting and singing.  About 90 season tickets so far in our section.  Another 80 season tickets of Crocketteers in other sections.  Our goal is to have a total of 300 to 400 people in our section each and every game.  Our section will be rocking!

I don't think they have given up on soccer.  The other two options you list are still likely in play.

His age is definitely a concern.  The plastic turf at Heroes will certainly play a role in his ability to play. Will not be in his favor.

Time will tell if he has an impact.  His experience should be more valuable than his play.  I think he will be a good coach for the reserve team.  I wonder how assistant coach Alen Marcina feels about being snubbed for that job.

The Scorpions play on the 2nd in San Antonio.  Not a deal breaker for me but Will need to see the time of the game and how much the tickets are.  Knowing Jerry tickets could approach $100 with parking

I guess we have to wait for Tuesday.  Maybe it's Javier Hernandez.  I did see a "chicharito" jersey today at the grocery store  Grin

The player could be Jaiver Saavedra.  He was at the tryouts.

I want to go.  Does anyone see what the cost of tickets are yet or when they might go on sale?

A lot still has to come from the school district.  There are still questions to if the stadium will get around several possible lawsuits.  One being the deed restriction and another possibly from the historical/conservation society.  Then the River road people will most likely sue because they don't want anything going on at Alamo Stadium.
