....January 24th at 6 p.m. The location will be the Museo Alameda. The event will be followed by a Tequila tasting event.

Who could the player be?

I gotta feeling they have signed the one and only:

JARED BORGHETTI
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Borgetti

I saw him in early December at the Super Target on Blanco and Loop 1604. I asked him for an autograph and what "he was doing here in San Antonio?"

.....he told me he was "just visiting"

Was it "just visiting" or meeting with Mr. Gordon Hartman?  Huh

The player could be Jaiver Saavedra.  He was at the tryouts.

I am very sure it's going to be Javier Saavedra. On the podcast Feuerstein's Fire #86, Michael Hitchcock was on and discussed that the player had "over nine caps" with the national team. I looked it up and Saavedra has nine caps. Makes sense if he tried out and also plays as a fullback which the Scorpions still need in the lineup. My bet is Javier Saavedra -- makes sense. I know he said "over nine caps", but it may have been a poor attempt of being discreet.

We all know that Saavedra was at the tryouts, and we all know that he might be the "ONE", but I refuse to believe that he will be the "ONE"...WHY? because he is almost 39 years old, and I am a firm believer that DIV II soccer should be exclusively a developmental league, a league were young players get better, not a league were veteran players take away the opportunity away from the young.

So please, don't do it. Or maybe is too late.

I guess we have to wait for Tuesday.  Maybe it's Javier Hernandez.  I did see a "chicharito" jersey today at the grocery store  Grin

Time will tell if he has an impact.  His experience should be more valuable than his play.  I think he will be a good coach for the reserve team.  I wonder how assistant coach Alen Marcina feels about being snubbed for that job.

Time will tell??? Do you know how old Saavedra is?
But you are right on one thing, he will be a better coach than a player at this time in his career. I don't know how he is going to manage both jobs at the same time.

Wikipedia is wrong.  It gives 2 dates of birth, one on 1973 and one on 1974.

His age is definitely a concern.  The plastic turf at Heroes will certainly play a role in his ability to play. Will not be in his favor.
